Relevance: CD21 (Complement receptor type 2) is a cell surface receptor for C3d (CR2) and for EB-virus that links the innate and adaptive immune response during the activation of B cells. Soluble CD21, released from the plasma membrane blocks B cell/follicular dendritic cell interaction and activates monocytes.
