L1 cell adhesion molecule (L1CAM; CD171) |
| Relevance: |
L1 cell adhesion molecule
(L1CAM) is a cell-surface glycoprotein and member of
the neural adhesion molecule family of the immunoglobulin
superfamily. L1CAM is implicated in the development
of the nervous system and its expression is restricted
to tissues arising from the neuroectoderm. L1CAM is
present on tumours of neuroectodermal and glial origin
(e.g. neuroblastoma and schwannomas). UJ181.4 can be
used in diagnosis of primitive neuroectodermal tumours.
Binds to tumours of neural and glial origin and does
not bind to paediatric or adult brain. Used for bone
marrow purging and intrathecal targeting. |
