The Cancer Research UK funded Small Molecule Drug Discovery programmes were established in 2008 at the following:
These programmes focus on discovering new drug molecules acting on targets identified by Cancer Research UK funded researchers.
Project leaders’ at all four universities will each receive approximately £500k per year for five years to develop anti-cancer drugs.
The grants aim to encourage research that leads to the development of small molecule targeted drugs to treat cancer. The projects will range from developing therapies for leukaemia to discovering new drugs to beat drug resistance in breast and prostate cancer treatments.
CRT, by way of the charity, has exclusive commercialisation rights to any Intellectual Property arising from these programmes.
In conjunction with Project leaders, CRT is seeking collaboration with industry on the Small Molecule Drug Discovery project.
